We must always remember that marriage, like life, is a journey - not a destination - and that its treasures are found not just at the end of the journey, but all along the way. As in all things, we need the Lord's wisdom to surround us and give us strength to love with single mindedness, care with tenderness, and act with humility.
Conversations with Meaning
The deepest longing in the human soul is to know God. In this way we are alike. The healing and help we need is passed along through the work of the Spirit of God. Daily, God is present in all we do and he is working out his plans for our lives.
How are we all connected? We believe God desires deep, spiritual conversations that give us a glimpse into His love, goodness, faithfulness, trustworthiness, and grace. He speaks to hearts longing for connection and as we learn to listen to Him we are likely to become more aware of the spiritual conversation he desires to engage in with us. Jesus assures us that our deepest longings can be met once again by the power of the Holy Spirit connecting the core of our soul to God. This truly is a desire within every human heart and can only be secured by God. Beginning with Him and carrying on through our biological family, to our childhood friends, and into our marriage, it is our relationships that so decisively shape the quality of our lives. Taking this a little further, our capacity to know and experience God is directly related to how we relate to other people. (1 John 4:20-21). The central feature of our relationship with God is love. Is it any wonder that He takes our love for one another just as seriously?

Spiritual Direction
"It is easier to find guides, someone to tell you what to do, than someone to be with you in a discerning, prayerful companionship as you work it out yourself. This is what spiritual direction is." Eugene Peterson
Anchor for the Soul
In this topsy-turvy world we live in there is need for something to steady our lives and keep us on course. As an anchor keeps a ship from drifting onto the rocks, hope keeps us from idly drifting to our spiritual destruction. Hope in God keeps us safe. It is a major stabilizing force for the whole of life because it has hold of something that does not move despite the storms around us. With our hope anchored in Jesus, we need never despair. Jesus is our Anchor of Hope.
Hope believes God is truthful and therefore has expectations of Him acting toward us in every way He has promised in His Word. Our faith in God is what sustains our patient hope in Him. Our strength and endurance are products of the hope we have in the unchangeableness of God. Our hope is firm, if God is for us who can ever be against us? Hope lights His way in life. We want to demonstrate that hope to people who come in to Anchor for counseling, comfort, and care for their souls.
